Who are we?
TrExMed is an independent, specialist travel clinic service run by two partners, Dr Jim Bond (Consultant in Travel Medicine) and Nicky Armstrong (Specialist Travel Nurse Practitioner). Both Nicky and Jim have over 27 years' experience of working in Travel Medicine and related fields.
We love travelling ourselves, and find seeing travellers one of the more enjoyable sides to our work. We are aware that many travellers need to seek expert advice vaccinations or malaria tablets at short notice and outside working hours and we aim to fulfil this need at the clinic.
Jim and Nicky have both completed the Glasgow Diploma of Travel Medicine in the early 2000s. Nicky is an Associate Member and Jim a Fellow of the Faculty of Travel Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Jim also holds the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM)'s Certificate in Travel Health Knowledge and has been an active Fellow of the ISTM for many years.

- One-stop travel health shop, for insect repellents, sun-cream, water purifiers, mosquito nets, tick removers and other useful travel health items
- TrExMed Travel insurance: our own recommended single trip and annual multi-trip policies.
- Tailored expedition health risk assessment service for school groups, research institutions, charity treks, film crews and others working in remote parts of the world
- Post-travel investigations and care, including screening tests for schistosomiasis (bilharzia) and zika infection, and intra-dermal post-exposure treatment (PET) for rabies.

We at TrExMed are very much committed to promoting responsible travel and ethical travel medicine. Jim writes and teaches on the Ethics of travel and expedition medicine and is a past Chair of the Responsible Travel Group of ISTM.
